Rei (or Ray) is a contemporary woodblock printmaker whose artwork to date includes the thirty-three flower and (or) bird prints shown in this gallery. These prints can be divided into two categories. In one category flowers are part of a landscape scene which is drawn accurately (e.g. pictures 1-3). In the second category (e.g. pictures 4-33) the flowers and birds are drawn more creatively. Rei’s use of such contrasting styles is unusual among Japanese printmakers.
